Who we are
Cafuné is the coffee brand of Rio de Janeiro Importación y Exportación, S.L., a company based in Valencia. We import Brazilian specialty coffee from named farms and bring it straight to cafés and homes in the city.
Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer, yet its specialty coffee hardly appears on Spanish menus. We bring it in lot by lot, with the farm named.
Some Brazilian coffee grows on «terra roxa», a dark red, fertile soil. About 130 million years ago, as South America split from Africa, vast lava flows poured out of cracks in the ground and covered more than a million square kilometres of the south of the continent. Over time, that basalt became this soil. The most common story is that the name comes from Italian immigrants on the coffee farms, who called it «terra rossa», red earth.
